It's funny that the Akagi Manga is still in the same match that kind of abruptly ended in the 2005 anime adaption. Twelve years and 27 volumes - twenty-seven fuсking volumes - later and it's still the same match. Okay, so it ended a couple of chapters ago on a technicality, but they probably pick up where they left off soon enough.
Back then, I thought in the anime the match was kind of dragged out and could have fit easily in like three episodes instead of half the anime, but in the manga it just goes on and on and on.
And on! On, and on forever!

Different gamble, different time-frame.
All of the adaptations are now coming out because Japan has waited over a decade for the full Washizu arc. Serialisation will end after this current story arc concludes which should be nicely timed with whatever live-action series or movies are being released.
