I'm so torn about this. Actual Chinese people being closely involved is nice and I absolutely adore Naoto Ohshima's work and legacy; this is the dude who designed Sonic and Eggman and directed Sonic CD, NiGHTS and Burning Rangers, all super-stylish and extremely visually iconic games. But the western side really worries me:
"Sonic the Hedgehog game designer Naoto Oshima is providing the story and original character designs. The American CG-animated film Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius' director John A. Davis is directing the project." Like... come on. Jimmy Neutron director isn't how you handle a classic Asian tale. Still a bit cautiously optimistic because who knows. |
