From what I've read of it, Witch Hat Atelier is an interesting manga that reads a bit like a Brandon Sanderson book in terms of its magic system (it's most like his book Arithmetist really.) For those that aren't familiar, he likes to set very well defined rules, and then figure out how to work within those rules in creative ways, as opposed to being rather hand wavey as many writers end up being, like how Harry Potter is rather nonsense if you stop to think about it.
