I didn’t see the books with Umino’s cover art before. Really love the style! Thanks for reporting about it. As a result, I bought that magazine because I was interested to see which novels they recommend. As expected, a lot of them are classic most people in the West know at least from the title, but also some newer works. (They recommended 77 titles in total and also included a list of must-see movie adaptions.)
I translated/summarized the interview with Umino, if anyone’s interested. Has some interesting parts about how the Anne/Heidi/Little House books influenced the way she portrays families. |
