The comic relief at the end was unexpected. I often forget that Madhouse are still around, the article mentions Boogiepop and Others and Overlord, but the last time I can remember hearing about them was ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept. back in 2017.

I got a chuckle out of it.
I just hope they leave that kind of thing out of the actual show. I think there are some genres that match fairly well with that sort of humor, but it's jarring and out of place in this kind of show, IMHO. There was a similar cut to a silly face right in the middle of Bubblegum Crash episode 2, and I found that it totally ruined the mood.

Madhouse isn’t as big as they used to be but they still usually put out at least one or two shows a year. Last year they had Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card and Place Further and the Okko’s Inn TV series.
