Hmm, I still might wait and see what you think of the second volume...

The thought process of her editor is something else - has everybody in the mystery imprint committed a murder or felony?

This honestly cracked me up way harder than it should’ve. I get that the editor is basically just a trope to get our somewhat sheltered heroine actively looking for a guy, but now I can’t shake the image of an editor telling their would-be mystery novelists: “If you want to write the perfect crime, you have to first commit the perfect crime.” Laughing

I believe that this exact situation--a manga illustrator needing sexual experience in order to better create her work--is a trope in and out of itself. I know I have seen several lesser-known manga and doujin with that exact premise. It's got some overlap with other recent titles too, like Eromanga Sensei and O Maidens in your Savage Season. This is a current popular trend.

You want to write a good fantasy novel? Okay, you'll have to go get isekai'd or go to magic academy or something then.
