The manga is finished, so 18-episodes seems about enough to cover everything.

It's probably confirmation bias but I'm starting to see anime have more episodes. More is usually a good thing because the anime adaption gets to cover more source material and in this case complete its run.

Really weird I was reading through this old 90s manga a couple months ago and now they make a show of it. It also happened with Parasyte. It's like my choice of manga reading influences which shows they are going to make. Well, I guess that they track manga sales internationally.
