...somehow it's uglier than the manga.
I don't see the point, looks like it adds nothing beyond reaching more people.

I mean when making a animated anything the point is to reach more people and get money off of sales of that. Home Media like DVDs and Blu-rays sell for way higher than manga in Japan. That and the anime can work as an ad for the manga to sell more there.
