A manga getting forced into hiatus that the author wants to continue is pretty strange isn't it? Especially for a property big enough to be getting live action adaptations as the author seems to be noting. Even if it wasn't hitting the numbers they wanted, you would think they would move it into a less popular magazine or make it an e-manga.

If it was an indefinite hiatus, then it could be explained as not even hitting the numbers for that, but it being a temporary hiatus is all the more strange. AFAIK those are generally due to circumstances of the author, such as their health. I can't think of a good explanation of why the publisher would force a manga on a temporary hiatus. Maybe a disagreement on direction they're hoping to resolve by then? Or maybe a marketing strategy? The live action special is coming out in 2024 so maybe they wanted to make sure the manga was still going then.

I know Kodansha is prone to SNAFU, but the case with GTO: Paradise Lost sounds really weird. I honestly thought Fujisawa was busy with other projects or something.

Sounds like the typical coporate communication problem.
