anybody know when/why they decided to rebrand the older seasons? like Pokemon the Series Gold and Silver used to be called John Journeys, Johto League Champions, and Master Quest, Ruby and Sapphire was called Advanced, Advanced Challenge, and Advanced Battle

The individual "seasons" are still called by those old titles, the larger "Gold and Silver" and "Ruby and Sapphire" labels are more all-encompassing titles to refer to each one's entire batch of seasons, instead of having to refer to them individually every time.
I don't know when they started doing this, but it's been several years now.
