Cat's Eye Plot Summary: The protagonists of the series are the three Kisugi sisters - Hitomi, Rui and Ai - who run a café called Cat's Eye. The same sisters lead a double-life as a trio of highly skilled art thieves, leaving cards with a name 'Cat's Eye' at the scene of the crime. They steal works of art (mostly paintings) as clues that belongs to their long missing father- Heinz, a famous painter and art collector during the Nazi's reign. They hope by stealing his works, Heinz will contact them. Toshi, the police officer investigating this case is the fiancé of Hitomi. He also swears to capture and bring down the Cat's Eye Gang. Episode 1
Not sure this is a keeper, but I liked the first episode enough to try some more. I vaguely remember sampling the original series years ago and quite quickly abandoning it so I don't have super high hopes for this. It will forever bug me that the gals don't wear masks on their heists. What kind of phantom thieves don't wear masks??? Having the dumbest detective in the world "hot" on their trail might get a bit eye-rolly, too. We'll see. |

The image URL you pasted was actually full size.
The expanded image URL should have some kind of size parameters in it: cdn.animenewsnetwork.com/thumbnails/max500x600/encyc/A34069-3356619957.1756167438.jpg What you did was: - Right Click - Copy Link And that gave you: fast.animenewsnetwork.com/images/encyc/A34069-3356619957.1756167438.jpg which is the full size image. It should be: - Right Click - Copy Image Link which would give you the expanded image URL with the size parameter in it. Anyway, the art style has a very City Hunter vibe to it, so that has me curious enough to check it out. I also do appreciate a good heist title every now and then. |

That is the first drop of the season for me. The first episode was not horrible or anything but it did not grab me in the slightest. The only two things that can make me drop a show this quickly is it is dreadfully boring or tragedy fuel.

Man, I really wanted to like this first episode. On the plus side I enjoyed the music and animation. The downside was the blandness of the characters, I was more curious about the artwork and the other primary cops. I have no idea WHY the decision was made to cram so many heists in one episode, WITHOUT revealing why the sisters work so hard to succeed in their endeavors.
I highly recommend the Lupin III vs Cat’s Eye movie on Prime. |
