Well, this really put me in the mood to go watch more of the animated series, now. I finally finished the 1st series a few years ago, but have yet to watch Nocturne. Guess I can try playing all those collection sets I bought, too. This game looks pretty good, so far. Reminds me of Shinobi: Art of Vengeance.

Gameplay looks like Dead Cells. Not surprised it's the same devs.

I was afraid it wouldn't play much like Castlevania and unfortunately that does indeed seem to be the case. There's a lot of focus on spike platforming that is very common among modern indie platformers in that preview and the combat doesn't seem very Castlevania-y.

It’s called evolution the very thing that took Castlevania from being a platformer with cheap game design to the more manageable exploration heavy game (which started with 2 but was refined with SOTN) with RPG elements that came later.
Also pretty sure many 2D era games were infamous for spike platforming or at least having levels centered around them.

Ya mean the thing that Castlevania basically invented with Castlevania IV and also did with Order of Ecclesia? Do I even need to get into Castlevania basics like Medusa heads?

Still not a fan of it looking like Netflixvania and the gameplay doesn't seem all that interesting. Bloodstain still remains the superior successor than Dead Cells.

Well, I'm definitely interested in this, on account I'm both a Castlevania fan and I've been wanting one since...well Harmony of Despair, but that one didn't come for Nintendo consoles and Grimoire of Souls both went unheard of, then came and went, which is a shame.

Kinda irrelevant with the fact that this is an official CastleVania game. As opposed to Bloodstained & Dead Cells taking the place of a dormant IP like traditional Spiritual Successors are supposed to do.

Lord of shadows mirror of fate was on 3DS.
But I would understand if that wasn’t your style.
