I know Kojima's a big name but I seriously cannot believe that Death Stranding is somehow the property of his that's making it big. I mean I get that it can't be MGS because that's not his, but like... Death Stranding is so stupid. Look, call me a hater, sorry, but I just feel like the amount of attention/projects this is getting is disproportionate with, you know, its quality.

I guess I'm morbidly curious how well it would adapt to anime form.

Honestly I am too as I’m surprised this would get and anime adaptation I feel it would make more sense as a live action movie. |

I watched a streamer play it and I'm glad I did because you can just ignore all the walking segments and alt-tab to another window and just wait for the next cutscene.
Hiring the actual actors probably costs more than simply face-scanning them and recording their lines. |

Metal Gear wasn’t stupid from time to time?
It is getting a live action movie, https://deadline.com/2025/04/death-stranding-movie-michael-sarnoski-a24-1236360094/ |

Regardless of what you personally think, the game has been a hit with it's audience and even resonated deeply with a surprising amount of people, Kojima from the start said his new Kojima Productions Studio would be a multimedia initiative that while primarily a video game developer would also work on films, animation, toys, commercials, music, manga, music videos and basically anything Kojima wants. The man is living his dream. Death Stranding is the first franchise by his studio to test the scope of what KojiPro can do. The sequel, the upcoming A24 movie, and now this animation project, are all following through on his stated business direction. He cares about his employees, many of whom are former Konami, and wants this business model to succeed and therefore keep his studio in business and continue to employ them. Games take long to make, his next titles, OD and Physint are a long way away. As you well know, he cannot make anything related to his old franchises at Konami, so Death Stranding makes sense. Kojima also knows that it is not a good idea to adapt the game's story into a film, so the A24 live action film will be an original project set in the same world, and I suspect it'll be the same for the animation project.
There is a live action movie being made by A24, which is supposed to be a different story set in the same universe. So I don't think there is any reason to think yet that the anime will be an adaptation. I get the feeling that both the film and animation will be original stories that are companion pieces, and maybe some cameos by the game character's cast. |

Maybe if they adapt it similar to Netflix's Cyberpunk anime; set in in the same universe with references to game events in the US but in a different location with all new characters (ex. Japan). |

I'm just sitting here hoping Kojima makes another Snatcher before he's gone but I also fear it'll just be full of Hollywood celebrities. I miss the old Kojima.
