They mentioned Resident Evil Outbreak? That's unexpected. Weird that's also the only time Resident Evil did anything interesting with multiplayer

A version of Resident Evil Outbreak for modern consoles seems like a slam dunk, considering the original problem was only so many people could play PS2 online, if they even knew it was possible. That stopped being an issue a few short years later, but they've never done it.
I wonder if this could be a sign that's on the agenda (especially considering now there's remake assets to exploit), but maybe not.
(I thought Resident Evil Resistance was super fun and one of the best takes on asymmetrical multiplayer horror, but sadly its rollout and support was botched pretty badly - I still think most RE3 players didn't even realize it came with the game)

I hope so, but since there was also a newspaper article from Alyssa in RE7 I think the director might just really like her

Ooh, very exciting! 2025 is my "year of Resident Evil" -- my first exposure to the series, starting with RE1 and working my way up from there. Over the past two months I've made it up to... the halfway points of RE4 (both of them). I wonder if I'll manage to finish 'em all in time for RE9?
Definitely excited to see Raccoon City again, especially the police station, which in my admittedly very limited view probably represents the quintessential ideal of what Resident Evil is. I wonder just how big of an area we'll be exploring, or if we'll be stuck shuttled along from one small gameplay space to another rapidly, like in RE3 (not a fan).
Also: not sure how I feel about the title. I can't decide if it's genuinely clever or just profoundly contrived.

I'd love to see a co-op game set somewhere like the RE2 police station where you have to explore while dealing with zombies reviving or breaking in through windows, while setting up barricades or incinerating corpses or whatever, and maybe some destructible environments to some extent (like how they used explosives to collapse the entrance to the hospital in RE3). That'd be just about the perfect zombie game for me.

I do like their new scheme of working the number into the title...
Resident eVII_
Resident Evil VII_I_age
Resident Evil re9uiem / RE:9uiem
I wonder what X / 10 will bring...

I can't say I've been a fan of the newer Resident Evils. They just play too different and have much different aesthetics and stories. Good for those that like it though.
And I doubt they'd do anything as good as Outbreak again. Online multiplayer has changed and been homogenized way too much. Any multiplayer game will be like their recent steps into it which are either typical online shooters or Dead by Daylight-style stuff. Outbreak was great because it was a genuine classic Resident Evil game but you could play it online in co-op. Fixed cameras, clunky item management, puzzles, but with some nice RNG. There's no way they'd ever make another game like it.
Also the community wouldn't play by the rules. People would just use Discord to talk to each other when in the old days all you had was some planning in the lobby before a game on where people would go and do what and then hope they don't die. Sometimes when you did your task and no one showed up you would go looking for them and you'd just find their corpse... or them as a zombie. It was a great feeling that would no doubt be ruined by either built in global voice chat or third party stuff. Those kinds of games just don't work anymore with randoms.

Welcome back to Raccoon City.
Also the protagonist being kind of adorkable is...cute.

Oh they knew the problem was. It wasn’t the online multiplayer Resident Evil game they wanted.

I've heard some rumors that apparently the development of this new RE had some troubles, though the trailer looks interesting, at least it doesn't seem very action-oriented, but we know that RE is has much more action compared to other survival horror games
Sidenote, Capcom has confirmed that this is going to be the first RE game to receive an offical Latin American Spanish dub, I wonder if Leon appears if he could be voiced by the same dub VA who voices the character in the movies and TV shows' dubs. Pragmata will receive a LatAm Sp dub as well
By the way, I've seen some people complaining or/and making fun the fact that there wasn't a Switch 2 version announced for RE: Requiem, but to be fair, there hasn't been a new RE game developed for a Nintendo systems since the 3DS era, Requiem won't receive a PS4 version like Village and 4 Remake and maybe Capcom will release a SW2 port later, or at least a Cloud version like how they did it with VII on the original Switch

I feel like people are overestimating what Switch 2 is capable of.
The vast majority of 3rd party ports were games developed for the PS4/Xbone.
Rumors are that RE9 is looking at an open world or a very big open level design with RE Engine pushing graphics.
I'm sure Capcom can port RE2 Remake and VII and VIllage with impressive results to Switch 2, but I don't think 9 will happen depending on it's scope.
I do imagine Japanese devs will shift to making future games on Switch 2 as the baseline HW and up-port them to PS5 from here on out, with some tech-pushing or Sony funded projects excepted.

Nintendo is generally a generation or two behind in hardware so I wouldn't expect this to be on a Nintendo console until Switch 3.
