$15.77 million? I thought manhwa and webtoons made more money in the US then what KOCCA just stated given the mainstream popularity of K-pop and K-media (consist of K-dramas and Korean films). I mean webtoon industry has made over $1.5 billion (you read it right, billion and this is measuring using US dollars) since the report released of this year. So I find this baffling that K-comic/webtoons are making $15.8 million in the US. I also know that webtoons/K-comic are getting the run of the money rivaling their manga counterpart in the US. So, I don't know what else to add other than what I just mentioned above.

The $15.7 million WAS potential deals, ala like distribution announcements out of SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL. I am guessing 50 new manhwa/webtoons were picked up. I am curious if these deals are digital only or actual print

Well, even if it's potential deals, the value and profit of the webtoon/manhwa would've been much higher then $15.7 million since Korean pop culture is more mainstream then it was 15 years ago. |

@mdo7
As I read the article, the 15.7 million was potential deals out of this convention alone. It is not a reference to the industry as a whole. |
