That’s a surprise. Certainly one of the better arcs to turn into a film I suppose since it was the series at its most “Shonen”.

Well, they like 5 years too late on realizing that instead of chopping off the already existing anime episodes to show it in the theaters people actually would really LOVE to see the earlier arcs from the first anime series, which was really constrained by the budget at the time, completely reanimated in Benizakura Arc fashion (and that movie came out in damn 2010, way ahead of the time) - but god damn, I bite on that, because the first Yoshiwara Arc was a real treat back in the day that elevated Sorachi writing of dramatic story filled with action, and having it reanimated was the thing was honestly people wished for long time.
Also damn, they really not found the more gutting coincidental date with Tomo Sakurai, who was Hinowa VA, and her character was introduced and crucial part exactly in that arc, passing away at time of announcement.

Yoshiwara in Flames was the Tsukuyo introduction as a character - but if they ever put to reanimation the second Yoshiwara/Red Spider arc, that's basically one big shipping ride of this pair.
And that arc honestly need some high-budget refreshment too.
