I hope Nintendo releases the unreleased zero racers game for this.

It's very cool that they're doing this, but very annoying these apparently require the accessories to play. Hopefully that's exaggerated and they'll work in 2D anyway, or perhaps it'll be doable with cheaper home made parts.
So close to having the full library, too...come on, Bandai Namco! I wanna play SD Gundam Dimension War! |

Selling a Virtual Boy accessory for the same price as it originally was, a product known for failing miserably partially due to how terrible it was to play for more than 5 minutes, feels like the height of hubris

Forcing people to buy a $100 accessory on top of the NSO subscription to play these games and the fact you don't even own them so once the service ends or you stop paying for NSO you're left with a $100 paper weight is truly bizarre move and I think Nintendo is just testing to how greedy they can be before even their most diehard fans stop supporting them. They should have just made this a Virtual Boy Mini or another kind of standalone product that plays the games itself.

If they couldn’t sell the Virtual Boy itself in 95 why would they do that in 2026? Sure you can complain about pricing but this model works better than the above. |

That's pretty much the entire library for that system, with the exception of Waterworld which is rare, expensive, and probably not worth shit.

It's also missing Nester's Funky Bowling, Panic Bomber, SD Gundam Dimension War, Space Squash, Virtual Fishing (outside of Japan), Virtual Lab and Virtual League Baseball. Plus a couple of unreleased games. |

Wish they had done this when the 3DS was still active. A fan made emulator is nice, but something official would have been nice too.
For $100 I'd rather have a mini stand alone system as well. I wonder if they'll give the option to change the color from red or even add more colors... |

I don't understand how forcing people to buy this thing to play the games on their Switch is better than a standalone release. If they couldn't sell the Virtual Boy itself then why would people buy an empty shell without the games? Mini seems like a much better option |

Because much like people will buy Nintendo Online Subscriptions to play GameCube games many of these same people will likely buy this to play Virtual Boy titles. To some this is a greedy move but If this wasn’t paying off for them in some way they’d go back to letting people buy their virtual console titles and play them subscription free. I also think people might be underestimating how cheap a Virtual Boy mini would even be Espcially in light of tariffs, the NES and SNES mini weren’t exactly cheap when they came out.
I would hope so literally one of the negatives of the original system wasn’t only being able to see in black and red. But given Nintendo’s propensity for doing weird/nonsensical stuff I wouldn’t bet on it. |

I've heard some people talk about how it might be necessary to use the accessory because the Virtual Boy created its visual affect by having two differently angled images projecting to either eye. Apparently, the original is prone to losing image on one or the other eye, and so an already bad experience is rendered worse.
That said, it's not like this is running on original hardware, so the time to tinker for current displays was there. It feels like the accessory is the whole point. On their own, people might try them, quickly decide that those games weren't very good in the first place, and move on. With it, there is an extra $100 they can make from anyone tempted by the novelty. |

Charging $100 for a Virtual Boy when the system barely lasted a year before being sold at a fire sale of $10 is a level of chutzpah one only gets when they're absolutely sure their product will sell.
