Wait, he has his own company to produce this AI movie based on his own manga? Like damn, how can an artist do this to their own work? I will never understand artist or people in the creative field in general that know whats its like to put effort into a work that just use AI to produce something, like thats so wierd to me

BIG. HARD. PASS.

Japan's definitely behind the times regarding the views on artificial idiocy and it shows. People might gobble that up like candy over there, but I want to believe that if it made it here, people would pan it.

How in the world can Hideshi Hino be okay with his work being adapted like this? Like, seriously, how?!

Welp, this AI thing is happening because the guy behind the whole AI movie and his own company, owns the manga. So he is basically chat gpting his own work. And the perception of AI over there is also not receptive from what I've seen, one example being when Twitter implemented the visible image generator thing and art/animation twitter here and japan were pretty missed about it.

Who thought this was a good idea?

Other than people that want to minimize the production costs of anime in absurd ways?

So these actors are just fine with laying the groundwork to make themselves obsolete. Good thing I'm not into horror I guess because everyone involved here is dead to me

I suppose if any title had to be turned into a ChatGPT horror, one bearing the name “Living Corpse” is incredibly apropos.

This is Hideshi Hino, not Junji Ito.

The man has done almost nothing for close to two and a half decades now, this screams desperately trying to cling to a last bit of relevancy when nobody wants to greenlight an actual adaptation of your work

Which might be a bit mean, but Hino is doing enough to disrespect his own legacy and work through this, so I can't feel too bad about it

But he is an AI voice in the project as the article lists, so my disappointment.

Junji Ito having any involvement with this... that's the real horror.

Yeah... now I'm just hoping he doesn't start using ai in his manga.

Nope, not touching this with a barge pole. Don't care who is behind it, AI slop is AI slop regardless of region it comes from.
