I think they should put anime in theaters. I don't mean the live action stuff either the real anime. I heard the cowboy bebop movie was in theaters at New York for like a month but they took it off. Does anybody think they should have anime in theaters, or does anyone know when an anime will be in theaters?

Cowboy Bebop played in theatres across the country for several months. I myself saw it twice -- once while I was in New York, and a few months later at home in Kansas City. It initially opened in ~20 cities (I don't recall the exact number) and was expanded to other places over the following months. If you live in or near a city, it probably played near you at some point over the spring or summer. Same thing for Spirited Away. It actually played in about 800 theatres after its Oscar win. That's not big enough to typically be considered a "wide" release, but nonetheless, it should have been easily accessible in any city. Several years ago, Mononoke Hime also got a theatrical release. I don't recall exactly how big that was -- not very -- but it was at least wide enough that it was playing in Kansas City (although I never had an opportunity to see it in theatres...). Even Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust got played in KC (granted, it was at a film festival, not a real theatre), and I saw that...and it wasn't all that great, but at least it was theatrical anime. So basically, the point I'm trying to make here is, Kansas City isn't really that big but there's been anime on theatres there. It's not a matter of whether they "should" put anime in theatres, because they already do. Maybe...a wider release, though? |
