I have recently seen fruits basket, took me a good 11 hours to watch the whole thing, and now I am really disapointed in it. Is there something I missed ? I haven't heard a single bad thing about that anime and after watching it I felt like going to get my money back. Maybe you guys can help me shed some light on to why this is worth keeping. Thank you.

Well, it's an odd case when someone doesn't like fruits basket, but it's bound to happen.

People usually love fruits basket because of how indepth it goes with the characters and their problems with themselves, which the viewers can usually relate with, causing people to get really attached to the characters. Basicly it's just a great story of finding yourself, and being accepted by others, with nice comedy inserts.

I don't really know what to say to convince you to keep it, but I'll try. Other then what is usually universally considered a great, touching story in the anime community, Fruits Basket has great animation, character development, character designs, and well... appeals to most people in drama and comedy forms. It's one of the few shoujos that guys really have no problem with, and usually if you show it to a friend, 9 times out of then they'll be asking for more.

I liked Fruits Basket for the humor and for the seriousness in it also. The story led up to a giant turning point at the end that left me in awe. The series in my opinion was really great.

I felt that I could identify with the characters for the most part. On top of that, I thought the writing was top notch. The story flowed well, and it gave me a nice array of emotional experiences and attachments.

Granted, I don't think there is a single story out there that everybody is going to like, so this may be the case for you.

Way back when I posted something about how if it had been available soon after I got into anime, I would have liked FB, but by the time it was available the idea of a shojo Ranma didn't appeal to me anymore. And people treated me like a war criminal. People love the show!

Personally, I found the characters very endearing, the story was quite touching, and the animation & artwork was very well done.

It is, however, a very slow-paced shoujo series, and that will not appeal to everyone. Maria-sama ga Miteru & Haibane Renmei (even though HaiRen's not exactly shoujo) could fall into a similar category. They're very slow series with large, devoted fan followings, but they are by no means universally-liked and there will always be a dissenting voice.

Fruits Basket meant a lot to mean. Heh, it's difficult to put how I feel about it in words.

The characters were human, and had flaws. They also became endearing through their sad pasts and diverse personalities. Everyone had a special trait that people could identify with.

It's understandable that some people wouldn't like it. It's sometimes shocking though, as it has a massive following. For instance, I didn't like Gundam Wing, something praised by many of my friends.

Overall, I think Fruits Basket is a tale of friendship, and how people come to support each other despite hardships. I honestly didn't dislike anything about the series other than the fact that it ended too soon.

I just couldn't get a date, so it was Fruits Basket or Meg Ryan movies.
