Well, one of my good friends picked up Cannon God Exaxxion vol2 the other day ('effin great manga, you know) and it prompted me to watch my rapidly deteriorating VHS copy of Bubblegum Crisis.
And as I watched the first episode and was swept up in the strains of "Konni wa Hurricane" once again, I couldn't help but wonder "What's going on with Sonoda?" I don't think Exaxxion has finished up, but even so I can't help but wonder if he's in the middle of any other projects at the moment. Honestly, his character designs (along with those of Masamune Shirow) really helped get me into anime. He's one of the creators I respect the most, mostly because he creates what he likes and doesn't pay lip-service to some high-fallutin' artistic idealism. |

Book 6 only just came out in September in Japan, so yeah, I'd say it's likely still going on. And yes, it is a great series... I need to pick up vol 6 myself....
I don't know what Sonoda has been up to, but anything he does, I will watch. I absolutely love his character designs. His storytelling can be a bit predictable sometimes, but it's all worth it to me. |
