Yeah, I need some violent animes. I have some good suggestions thus far in the thread. Read it all before you suggest something. Thanks.

New Getter Robo was very violent
lots of blood and out right brutality I'd say less than Elfen Lied and if you haven't seen it Berserk is EXTREMELY violent (similar to New Getter except more so) |

If this was manga then it would be alot easier
Hmm first one that comes to mind is Berserk, very gorey. Basilisk is a ninja anime full of action and lots of blood but it does have that star crossed lovers from rival familes plotline. |

just bought basiilisk, whole series, collectors edition also, i dont want manga because it is so expensive, at 8 dollars per book, an entire series might cost over 100 dollers. |

The two 3x3 Eyes OVAs are really bloody and gorey. The two main characters can't die so the creators really love exploiting that in really gruesome ways.
The Ninja Scroll movie is also violent and gory. I didn't really like the Hellsing TV series as much as other people, but that also has a lot of blood and gore. So does the Hellsing Ultimate OVA from what I've heard but I haven't seen that. Berserk is a really violent anime, though I prefer the manga, myself. Now and Then here and There isn't the goriest anime out there but there's still plenty of blood and its still really brutal, too. And I'll also agree that Blue Gender and Basilisk are extremely violent and gory and are really good too. |

If you don't mind me asking, why? It appears to me that you just want to see blood and massive mayhem of mindless death, which is really not good anime typically. Unless you are into it, like it sounds like you are. I am a philosophical, psychological, and realist type of person. So I prefer reality. Which is poorly portrayed in Elfen Lied and Gantz (both being good anime still in my book)
I don't have a problem with violent anime, I own Gantz, Samurai X, Elfen Lied, Gunslinger Girls and Gungrave(which somebody else mentioned and I really would not consider either of those "over the top" violent, it was all well placed, not like in gantz or elfen lied, where it was just mayhem) Anyways outside of what has been mentioned: -I say yes to ninja scroll and basilisk (mindless bloodshed, yet entertaining) -Samurai X(But was all well placed, not excessive, probably one of the best animes ever made) -FMP TSR is up there (But still well placed) -Hellsing (sounds like it is right up you alley, both the tv series and ultimate) -Ninja scroll the tv series too(much better than the movie IMO) |

Why? Because I love violence. I am a normally peaceful person, but when it comes to violence in media, I am a total fanatic. I have watched all those gross-out underground horror flicks, and enjoy them lots, and now I feel it is time to shift from the live action gorror/ultraviolence to the animated, because in the animated, they can do things that are otherwise impossible in real life.
Don't get me wrong, I like real animes too such ans Neon Genesis ect. but I am exessive in nature, and when I want violence, I want super violence. Same thing with everything else; If I want hentai, I'll go for over the top hentai, if I want horror, I'll go for over the top horror, ect. No offense taken. It's a good question, and one that probably most people who read this thread had. |

Just ordered Ninja Scroll: TV series Complete for 8 bucks off ebay. God, ebay saves a ton of cash. Got Cowboy Bebop full series for 6 bucks off there, still waiting for it to come in the mail.

You ever read the Buried Treasure articles? Go look up some of the Buried Garbage titles... Angel Cop (from what I can tell, haven't yet seen it) and Mad Bull 34 are great big steaming piles of boobs and blood. Baoh follows into the same idea, but sans the boobs (and I actually enjoy the story there...)
Now, if you want a quality plot too... well, nevermind me... (Berserk is a good suggestion tho'...) |

Those are probably both bootlegs, FYI. If you care about that at all. |

If you haven't seen it then I would reccomend Afro Samurai. The animation and action is amazing, and the violence is right up there with Gantz and Elfen Lied. It's only five episodes, and the story is pretty shallow, but it was mainly made for the action.
Too bad you don't read the Gantz manga. It continues past the anime and keeps getting more and more violent. |

I haven't seen a lot of very gorey anime, except for Elfen Lied. It's a very good anime. but very gorey spoiler[peoples heads exploding, hearts being ripped out, fingers being chopped off, etc]. It's also very sad; sometimes I want to turn away, but I can't.

I don't want to get too involved in this IS A BOOTLEG? debate, but if you haven't visited animenewsnetwork.com/bbs/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5401
you might want to check it out. It does sound like those are both bootlegs just from what you've said; a good majority of anime sales off Ebay are bootlegs. Factory sealed doesn't necessarily mean authentic-it means someone went through the trouble to factory seal it. |

Shigurui Trust me, you'll love it. And, I think, it holds up as an interesting anime in its own right, regardless of the violence (though admittedly, the anime could not exist in any form without the violence.) Some important questions remain unanswered, leaving me to demand a second series, but still, the unrestrained gore coupled with an intriguing story make for a worthwhile and highly recommended anime. Unfortunately though, you'll have to go for fansubs...which can be obtained in the US... |
