This might be of minor notice or such, but one of my recent buys was the 1st Ikki Tousen DVD at Otakon at the Geneon booth. Now I also noticed that the encyclopedia says that the 1st DVD releases tommorow (August 10th, 2004), and Otakon was on the 30th-1st of June and August. Well, I was just curious, that did they release it early? Or do they just release things earlier at conventions or something?

Blah. Just wondering.

I don't know, but I can agree that I too saw a somewhat early release of Gundam SEED at Best Buy this past weekend.

I believe it's supposed to come out tomorrow (8/10) yet Best Buy already had the standard edition.

Yeah... but what I got was a good 10 days before scheduled release.

I probably shouldn't question it because I got it at the Geneon stand in the dealers room, but still....

I know this is slightly different, but Waldenbooks often releases manga way earlier, and I asked them one time about it. They basically told me that when they get in a new book, they put it on the stands even if it's not released. It might not be the same for Best Buy, but that's just my guess.

Yep. They generally sell some products a week or two ahead of schedule at conventions.

By the way Shiki, how much did you pay? Is it cheaper than retail?

I don't go to conventions, but if they sell stuff in advance and it's for a good price, them maybe I should start going Smile.

Or with Waldenbooks, they will get a title that is supposed to be out July 14th...and then they don't get it until like July 28th(Berserk volume 4 i'm looking at you Mad ).

My Bestbuy always seems to release stuff earlier than the official street date for some reason. I was curious about it one day so I asked one of the clerks and he said that they get their new shipments truck in Thursday, and then they put all of the new stuff out on the shelves by Friday. So I guess they are always a little bit ahead of schedule.

Ah. I got my [Ikki Tousen] DVD for around... $23-ish. Something like that. Well, it's slightly cheaper than most Geneon stuff I've bought. And much cheaper than your usual new release, and considering this is new, pratically just fresh, that was a pretty decent price (isn't retail usually around $29.99?).

Hmm. Deep Discount DVD has the DVD by itself for $22.31 and the DVD w/ box for $33.47.

And considering that you get free shipping, I guess it's only a few cents cheaper, but it'll save me the drive, so I guess I'll stick with online shopping Anime smile.

I don't wanna sound like I'm going back on what I said, but I acctually just found the original recept from the convention. (right next to my computer monitor. =P)

013023217492
IKKI TOUSEN V.01
Qty: 1
Price 22.46
Sub Total 22.46
Tax 1.12
Total 23.58

Well, I was basically correct, but I like conventions for the "Social" experience because I'm one of those people who's deathly afraid of becoming an anti-social hermit ^^;.

Heh, heh... I'm kind of the opposite. I would love to be a very knowledgable hermit-type character, but I don't like the sound of that "anti-social" thing .

I guess being so active on this site kind of helps the purpose though. I'm home a lot, and instead of knowledge, I provide opionion (and a few additions to the Encyclopedia here and there) Wink.
