A live-action production and an animated production would involve two completely different studios and mostly different production teams. Unfortunately, "Just do another Lupin III series" doesn't work like that.
Being handled by different studios, a live-action series wouldn't necessarily halt the production of a new season.

Since we already get Lupin animation all the time, it's not like this is replacing anything, so I'm totally cool with this.

Do it as a humorous police procedural, and it could actually work.

I will definitely give it a look if/when episodes become available.

I do hope they show it over here--the article didn't say anything about that. I fear it may end up a Japan exclusive thing. It sounds really funny, and Zenigata looks so handsome.

You know what I hope. There's a series on TBS (the American station,not the Japanese one) called "Angie Tribeca." It's a parody of police shows. I hope they do one with a character that looks like Inspector Zenigata who comes to America to arrest a bad guy from Japan. I'd love to see that,wouldn't you?

Angie Tribeca is great (Airplane/Naked Gun style kookiness), my guess is this show won't be full on comedy like that though.

I do hope it's funny though, my guess is it'll be going for a lighthearted/cute cop show vibe. Like a lighter/more anime-ish Densha Otoko maybe.

Looks promising!
