I hope, for the sake of UK anime fans, that this channel doesn't butcher all its shows like Jetix did with Naruto.

Yeah, it's just in the UK

And I wouldn't get your hopes up, anyone.

Sony have already debunked the rumour, saying that while the channel will broadcast from the UK, hence the OFCOM license, it won't actually be broadcasting to any UK stations and rather to TV sets in Central Europe.

Sony will say a lot, but if there's demand for such a channel, who are they to deny us. Central Europe is gonna require translation to different languages which in itself will cost more to do. Don't forget the EU is 25 nations now, all with different languages.

More brilliant Sony logic, larger audince indeed equals more languages, but to snub the u.k like that is below contempt, and they'll still come knocking at our door later this year to sell us PS3, next to their anime dvds etc.

If OFCOM, a u.k based regulator has green lighted Sony, that can surely mean the u.k is included, as well as europe. Sony also already have this or a similar channel stateside, which would mean less translation stuff would need to be done for us in blighty. Set up channel, we get U.S anime content, adjusted for u.k, and the rest they can spend time translating into several languages for the eu. If it turns out otherwise I'll feel cheated, but I reckon it will go this way.

Yeah a UK thing that Disney felt it had to edit an already edited for children programme to put it on Jetix, basically pulling a "One Piece". But the uncut DVD will be released on the 21st, so Jetix is irrelevent, again.
The Sony thing is also irelevent to the UK as allegedly they will be radiating to Europe from the UK, but not for the UK, oddly. Rolling Eyes

I suggest all of you take a look at the webpage for the licence, http://www.ofcom.org.uk/static/tvlicensing/cs/1413.htm and make use of the e-mail address there to register your complains and disappointment.
Oh, and be sure to register a complain with Ofcom too, http://www.ofcom.org.uk/complain/

Personally I feel that if Sony are going to use the UK to transmit this channel they should be forced to make it viewable in the UK. I they're not going to let us see it, I'd rather have the whole channel pulled.

Does seem pretty idiotic such a thing could be done like that. Sony just can't think through these things at all it seems.
