The only thing more disappointing than a live-action TV series.

I feel like an anime will happen eventually though.

I guess that Act-Age will never get an anime at all like Komi-San Can't Communicate(manga released in 2015, yet still no anime).

Not everything needs to have an anime. It's better to have no anime than to have a rushed QUALITY-infested adaptation.

A stage play two years from now? Did this even merit a "special announcement"?

Nah, that would be a pachinko game.

And here's the website: https://act-age.info/

It's an announcement in an issue for which Act-Age was not the cover. That means that odds were high that it was going to be something that's 'lesser' than an anime adaptation.

Now, it's still likely that it'll get an anime at some point, as we're in an era of Jump where practically everything that survives long enough gets one. Just wait for an issue where Act-Age gets the combination of being the lead and having an announcement, then maybe get your hopes up. Oh, and ignore the random 'insiders' on social media when they offer vague horoscope-like 'predictions' without anything to back it up.

That and especially considering these are two popular ongoing manga, it's still possible and even likely they'll get an adaptation at some point. Just because it hasn't happened YET doesn't mean it won't EVER.

Yeah. You know how many manga have started in Jump this century, run for more than two years, and not gotten an anime? Three -- Mr. Fullswing, M×0, and Psyren. (I don't think Hetappi Manga Kenkyūjo R counts.) And M×0 only just barely hit the two-year mark; Psyren fell just short of three. Neither was in as healthy a place as Act-Age is now.

So the last precedent for a "successful" Jump manga not getting animated is a sports manga that started in 2001.
