I've sent emails to CBLDF multiple times with helpful information in defense of manga artists & their fans.

I hope this doesn't affect negatively the important work they're doing. Somehow I can already imagine people crawling out of the woodwork using this as an excuse to claim there's no need to defend all that 'nasty' drawn stuff...

So, is entire anime/manga/comics/gaming/convention fandom in America completely systemically based upon culture of predatory sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment? Not week go by over past five years on ANN there is not article like this in news section.

Going over news section for daily past eight week, count 12 similar articles. I can not find one other country on ANN over every daily post in eight weeks where similar articles happen in other countries!

Sexism and harassment is a major issue across the entertainment industry. It's been a major problem in the American comic book industry as well. Just a few weeks ago ANN reported about allegations against Sunrise in Japan though that major news seems to not have caught the attention of most of anime fandom for some reason.

Yes, it happens everywhere, and it has always happened. Put pieces of shit in positions of power and influence over others, give them a thin veneer of respectability to hide their true nature, and they will take advantage of it in the most horrific ways. The high-profile cases of the past several years have given so many victims the courage to speak out about what happened to them, and that opened the floodgates on bringing these crimes to light.

Oh, I'm sure it goes on in other countries as well. There was the recently-announced Sunrise case that another poster mentioned, and whispers about occasional improprieties in the anime and idol scenes in Japan go back a decade or more. You're just hearing a lot more about it in America because the U.S. may be the most open country in the world right now to accepting such truths coming out.

I hope that this incident won't stop the activism that helped the comic industry as well as the anime/manga industry who are drawing artwork to make a living no matter how "nasty" it appears to be even when it's published.
