That's twice now that this anime came back from the dead out of nowhere. Pretty impressive considering I thought that that the second series didn't do particularly well in sales - correct me if I'm wrong.

I realize I'm probably the only person who still cares about Blue Exorcist in the year of our lord 2022, but fudge YES I'M SO EXCITED!! I hope A-1 Pictures is still involved, considering how excellent their recent output has been.

Well, yep (though it's the huge gap and the fact that whole third of first season was anime-original also not helped it) - but considering manga itself still doing great in terms of sales, it's just enough.

Let's hope all of the anime for the third season is canon. No more anime-only plot like the final 1/3 of the first season please!

Honestly the manga seems like it is nearing its end so maybe that's why???

I guess World Trigger is a little short of material (30 chapters) to get a new season.
I wonder if we'll get new seasons of Hunter x Hunter (that has 60 chapters of unadapted material) and D.Gray-Man (37 chapters) any time soon.

Also, not a Shueisha property, but I'd like to have an anime continuation of Black Butler.

I watched the whole first season of Blue Exorcist, I know I watched it, I can tell you for a fact that I watched it...but I could not for the life of me describe it to you in any meaningful way, that's how little impression it left on me. Not that it was bad or anything, it was just...there. It felt like one of those classic "Anime: The Anime" series.

Is this a reboot or a new season of the existing anime?

After Episode 15 it followed an original path. Season 2 continues from Episode 15, ignoring the rest of Season 1 and adapting content from the Manga.

Yup, highly likely this will be the next major arc. Roughly Volumes 10 through 15. Smile

I'm not even talking about that, I just mean the series taken as a whole. I do remember at the time it seemed a waste of Tensai Okamura's prodigious talents to tackle a bog-standard shonen adaptation.

I enjoyed Blue Exorcist back in the day and always wished we would get more so I'm glad this is finally happening. But I feel like I'm getting conflicting messages on Twitter if this is going to be an anime original story, an adaptation of the next manga arc, or an anime reboot.

I would also love more D.Gray-Man but probably not likely to happen after the issues with the Hallow adaptation and the mangaka wasn't too thrilled with it and the BDs for Hallow ended up being canceled.

As I live and breathe, Blue Exorcist lives!

I'm assuming they'll be adapting Izumo's arc in this.
