I’m genuinely shocked that we keep getting Captain Tsubasa games released in the West.

Considering the first game was mostly Spanish in it's physical release, I'm not. What I am shocked about though is Viz finally decided to release both seasons of the 2018 reboot on video now.....DVD-only but it's something. Apparently it also includes the Spanish dub & subs going by Crunchyroll's listing of both sets which would make it the first time they did this since the Death Note Blu-ray sets 10 years ago. |

As a Spaniard I can assure you that, yes, 30+ years after the first TV series, Captain Tsubasa is still well known over here (and probably in Italy and France, too).

Cannot say anything about the European Spanish dub, but the Latin American Spanish dub of the most recent series have been interesting, particularly because some VAs from previous Captain Tsubasa adaptations reprised their roles, while others voiced different characters, and in Junior Youth Arc's dub something interesting happened, all Captain Tsubasa's anime have been dubbed in Mexico, but the argentinean players that appeared in Junior Youth Arc are dubbed by actual dub VAs from that country with their natural accents instead of using a "Neutral Accent", there were some VAs from Chile and Paraguay. Speaking about video games marketed towards Latin Americans players and dubbing in general, Capcom just added a Neutral Spanish dub for RE Village and RE4 Remake, so it seems. Seems like Nintendo, Capcom and Bandai Namco, are some of the few Japanese vide game companies that are trying to appeal to the LatAm market. |

With Capcom in particular, they had been updating their older games with these options since Ace Attorney 1-3 & Mega Man 11 got theirs late last year which included Spanish & Portuguese as well. |

First, please understand that in Spain, dubbing is the default choice for everything. Then, the voice acting was good, even if the names were all changed for other, English oned ('Oliver Atom', 'Mark Lenders'…)* . What hit was being an anime about football turned to 11. Many people cannot recognize Tsubasa, but Atom |

You reminded me about the name changes in Captain Tsubasa, aside from the fact that in Latin America the show is caled "Los Super Campeones" (lit. The Super Champions), all of the characters' names were the same as the European dubs, though some weren't the same, i.e. Kojiro Hyuga was named Steve Hyuga, while in Europe he's Mark Lenders. But as you said, in the latest anime adaptation all of the international dubs seem to use the original Japanese names, kind of like what happened in Sailor Moon Crystal. |

That is funny, because in Spain "Supercampeones" was the name of Ashita e Freekick!, a less known football anime, an Italian-Japanese co-production, I think. |
