Future Boy Conan. If you haven't watched this show, you are not yet ready to call yourself a true anime fan.

Watch it.

It has been over 13 years since Takahata's last feature film, 1999's My Neighbors the Yamadas.

And I still haven't it.
I probably will watch it...next year. Along with Future Boy Conan.

Looking forward to the Bamboo Cutter; one of the most well known (and used) of the Japanese mythology.

Another new Ghibli film already? Must see. I heard of Future Boy Conan and had been curious about the series after my Miyazaki film phase, notably Castle in the Sky Laputa when realized that kids in a Miyazaki film were just too awesome. A late friend of mind told me that this was a signature action that is often found in many of Miyazaki films regarding his child heroes. He recommended that if I wanted to see more of how it's used to check out a shows called 'Future Boy Conan'. I've yet to see at least an episode of that series.

Though the 'activity' section of the web page about Ikebe Shin'ichirō said, 'The Tale of Princess Kaguya directed by Takahata Isao' some days ago, that section of the web page now says, 'The Mingei Theatre Company's The Cherry Blossoms in the Sky', rather than Takahata's anime. Hmm...

They probably edited it because they realised it had not been offically announced yet.

It's been ages since we've seen a Takahata flick and I am anxious to see how he's changed as an artist since "Yamadas" (which is a really loveable movie and I definitely recommend!) I'm also really fond of the Princess Kaguya tale, so seeing it with those lustrous Ghibli visuals will be so exciting!
