Wouldn't they have to actually be dating for him to dump her? Maybe 'rejected' is the better word?

Probably 'cus that moe gimmick has run its course and alienated female consumers in Japan. Rolling Eyes

All this shoujo anime getting announced, but none of them are actual full-length tv series, it seems. I guess I'll take what I can get though. Any shoujo is better than no shoujo.

I don't know why I'm dignifying this with a response (I might hate myself), but female-aimed works can and frequently are moe.

I thought so too, but I've seen a lot of official American translated manga that uses the word "dumped," even if they weren't dating.

There is one shojo anime coming out in 2014 (I think).... It's "Survival Game Club." But it will definitely rely on a moe-loving male audience to keep it afloat.

A lot of OVAs, but I sincerely come to not blame Japan for not doing Shoujo as of late. All "popular" series are dumb school anime romances that contain the exact same plot. I'm tired and sad. Where are of Rose of Versailles, Utena, Nana, and actually plot driven stories, dramatically romantic Shoujo manga? Even the romances are lame and repetitive. I'm so mad at Shoujo manga ATM for being so dumb.

Hm.
I agree with a lot of this, as Suki tte Iina Yo is exactly the same. It's a Japanese thing, but it irritates me.

Anyway.
There are some great shojo manga running right now, like Akatsuki no Yona and Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii.
And I miss pure magical girl anime. With decent plots. Like Tokyo Mew Mew and Ojamajo Doremi. Definitely in the shojo territory, but they have awesome characters and stories. Sailor Moon anime... I prefer the manga 1000 times more, since it was a lot more deep, I feel.

That's the problem. Even a generic, cliche school romance like Hana-kun to Koisuru Watashi sells more than something amazing like Akatsuki no Yona, Soredemo Sekai ga Utsukushii,Dengeki Daisy, Meiji Hiiro Kitan or some GOOD school life manga like Last Game or Taiyou no Ie.

The only ones popular right now are Sukinayo, Kimi ni Todoke, L-DK, Hana-kun to Koisuru Watashi etc.

I too miss magical girl anime so much. But it seems magical anime and manga are all seinen and shounen and otaku-bait now.

Is this, this year's Ribbon x Oha Suta special?

Zekkyou Gakkyuu, Nagareboshi Lens, Hiyokoi, and Crash! were the others from the previous years with Ribbon.
