Main Shin Megami Tensei RPG series' last numbered title shipped in 2003

This week's issue of Enterbrain's Famitsu magazine revealed that the Shin Megami Tensei IV game for the Nintendo 3DS is in development. The Japanese game and film news blog Sinobi reported that a website for the game would launch on Wednesday, but an official website has not yet opened.

The last numbered game in the main Shin Megami Tensei series, Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne, shipped for the PlayStation 2 console in 2003. Atlus released the series' most recent title, Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, for the Nintendo DS in 2009.

Apart from the main series, the related sequel role-playing game Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 was released in Japan last July and in North America this past February. Devil Survivor, the manga adaptation of Atlus' original Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor game, debuted on Saturday.
