Life-Size Gundam Unicorn's 1st Projection Mapping Set for April 21

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The life-size statue of the Unicorn Gundam mobile suit from the Mobile Suit Gundam UC anime formally debuted on Tokyo's Odaiba island last year. The statue has the unique ability to transform from "Unicorn mode" to "Destroy mode," and luminesce from 50 different areas. The 1/1-scale statue is going to get even flashier starting on April 21 when Odaiba will hold the statue's first projection mapping event.

The projection mapping show will recreate the story of humankind's advancement into space and other important events from the Universal Century timeline.

Projection mapping shows will be held three times a day, each lasting about six minutes, until May 6.

The Gundam Unicorn model replaced the earlier full-size RX-78-2 Gundam which stood in the same location for five years.
