Isshiki Makoto's manga Piano no Mori (Piano Forest, a.k.a. The Perfect World of Kai), which first appeared in the manga magazine "Morning" in 1999, is about to make the leap to the big screen. A feature length anime film based on the manga will appear in theatres across Japan in July 2007.

Anime studio Madhouse will be producing the film. The studio produced some of the most critically acclaimed anime features of the past 2 years, including Satoshi Kon's Paprika and Toko wo Kakeru Shojo. Kojima Masayuki, who directed the TV anime series Monster, will direct the film.
