Funimation Uploads Entire Black Blood Brothers Anime (Updated)

posted on by Christopher Macdonald
Full series available with English subs, download-to-own

FUNimation Entertainment has made all 12 episodes of the Black Blood Brothers supernatural adventure series available on its website as "download-to-own" videos. The episodes are only available with Japanese audio and English subtitles. Each episode costs US$1.99. The videos require the Microsoft Windows XP or Vista operation system with Windows Media Player 9 for digital rights management, and can only be downloaded from an Internet address in the United States.

Funimation is set to release the first volume of Black Blood Brothers on DVD on February 12, with the second of three volumes following six weeks later.

Black Blood Brothers is the second complete anime series to be released online, download-to-own, by a major North American anime studio prior to its North American DVD release. Viz Media released Death Note as download-to-own videos via Direct2Drive and TotalVid last year. (Death Note has also been streamed online on Adult Swim Fix.) In addition, Vuze recently released the 13-episode Neko Rahmen series as subtitled, download-to-own videos.

The other download-to-own titles available directly from Funimation are Moon Phase, Peach Girl, Rumbling Hearts: KimiNozo and Suzuka. Many other anime from ADV Films, Bandai Entertainment, Funimation, Geneon Entertainment, Manga Entertainment (Starz), and Viz Media are available download-to-own from ADVFilms.com, Amazon's Unbox, Apple's iTunes Store, BitTorrent (on the official website), IGN's Direct2Drive, Microsoft's Xbox Live Marketplace, TotalVid, Vuze (formerly known as Azureus), and ZVUE.

Errata: Corrected the location of streamed Death Note videos. Thanks, MeggieMay.
