1st Strike Witches DVD Reportedly Sells 10,961 Copies (Update 2)

10,961 copies of the first DVD volume for Kunihisa Sugishima and Gonzo's Strike Witches anime have been sold in Japan since its release on September 26, according to an anonymous 2ch forum post with purported sales data from the Japanese ranking company Oricon. Adapted from Humikane Shimada's eponymous light novel series, Strike Witches is reportedly the first anime television series produced by Gonzo to sell over 10,000 copies of a single volume since Gonzo's release of Vandread in 2001.
Gonzo revealed in June that Strike Witches would be joining its BLASSREITER and The Tower of Druaga: the Aegis of Uruk- anime on the video streaming websites Crunchyroll and YouTube. The BOST TV website eventually also added Strike Witches when it premiered in July.

Update: The sales data came from an anonymous post on the 2ch forum and has not been independently corroborated with a second source.
Update 2: ANN confirmed with Oricon that the 10,961 number is accurate.
