The December issue (on sale on November 10) of Kadokawa Shoten's Newtype magazine will announce that Kyoto Animation's Munto video anime series will be remade as the Sora o Miageru Shōjo no Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai (The World Reflected in the Eyes of a Girl Looking Up at the Heavens) television anime series. The original fantasy anime centered on a seemingly ordinary girl named Yumemi who can see a magical world in the skies above our world, and the king named Munto who must find Yumemi to save his own world.
The official website of the Munto franchise already indicated that there will be information about a new Munto work on November 10. Kyoto Animation produced two video volumes of Munto in 2003 and 2005. Central Park Media released the first video volume of Munto in North America in 2004.

Update 2: Central Park Media released the second video volume in 2006. Moon Phase Comments notes that the project will premiere in early spring of 2009 with a "director's cut" of the two video episodes with new footage. Yoko Hatta (Munto, Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) will return as the project's producer. Yoshiji Kigami will also reprise his roles of scriptwriter, director, and episode director. Tomoe Aratani will be the character designer and animation director as she was for the Munto 2 video, the Air television series, and Air in Summer.
