Solanin's Asano to Launch Umibe no Onna no Ko Manga

Romance by Eisner nominee joins Muhō Shōjo Appo-chan, Samurai Vampire

Inio Asano, the creator of the Eisner-nominated Solanin romance manga, is launching a new manga called Umibe no Onna no Ko (Girls of the Beach) in the 58th volume of Ohta Books' Manga Erotics F magazine on July 7. The manga will cover the themes of love and sex between the boys and girls living in a town by the seashore. Viz Media publishes the Solanin manga in North America, and Takahiro Miki (DNA Sights 999.9) is directing a live-action film version with actress Aoi Miyazaki (live-action NANA and Someday's Dreamers films).

Two other manga creators, Jun Hanyunyū and Chika Ogaki, are launching new works in the same issue of Manga Erotics F. Hanyunyū, a creator best known for Koi no Mon and other avant-garde titles, will draw Muhō Shōjo Appo-chan, a "high-tension comedy" about a girl who sincerely believes she can use magic.

Ogaki, the creator of Landreaall and other fantasy stories, is starting a new work called Samurai Vampire. The fantasy story is set in Japan's shogun-era capital of Edo with a vampire as the protagonist.
