Zipang Resumes on May 28 after Kawaguchi's Accident

The 25th issue of Kodansha's Morning magazine has confirmed on Thursday that Kaiji Kawaguchi's Zipang manga will resume in the next issue on May 28, after Kawaguchi's recovery from a bicycle accident. Zipang has been on hiatus for most of this month since Kawaguchi fractured his right arm — which is his drawing arm — on April 14 while getting lunch in the rain. Kawaguchi announced the hiatus in the 23rd issue, which included a sketch of the Zipang character Yosuke Kadomatsu (shown at right) that Kawaguchi drew with his left arm.
Before Zipang, Kawaguchi drew the Eisner Award-nominated Eagle manga, The Silent Service, and A Spirit of the Sun. Viz published the Eagle manga in North America, Central Park Media released the Silent Service anime special, and Geneon Entertainment (USA) released the Zipang television anime.
