X Japan's Yoshiki to Host July 1 Benefit Party in L.A. (Updated)

posted on by Gia Manry

X Japan founder, drummer, and pianist YOSHIKI has announced that he and his YOSHIKI Foundation America will throw a free benefit party as part of the MAX 2010 event on July 1st, 2010 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles.

The event will include a masquerade contest and a fashion event featuring designer H. Naoto (also a guest at this year's 2010 Otakon event), as well as giveaways such as rare X Japan items and a chance to meet YOSHIKI in person in the Club Nokia VIP room. Attendees of MAX's screening of KAI-KI: Tales of Terror from Tokyo or the AniMaid Café events will receive "a special limited edition X Japan/YOSHIKI keepsake" and premiere access to the party.

The YOSHIKI Foundation is a 501(c)3) charity devoted to providing funds for children with bone marrow disease, a cause that former X Japan guitarist Hideto "hide" Matsumoto championed before he passed away in 1998. The event will specifically raise funds for the Grammy Foundation and St. Vincent's Meals on Wheels.

MAX 2010 takes place on July 1st at Club Nokia and requires no attendance fee, instead charging for individual events. Other announcements for the event include a screening of the American trailer for Studio Ghibli's Tales of Earthsea, the aforementioned flash mob dance events with the AniMaid Café, an AMV contest, a collection of Power Rangers guests and events, and the aforementioned screening of Kai-Ki.

Update: Details about Hideto "hide" Matsumoto's life has been corrected. Thanks, Capnshorty.
