posted on by Egan Loo
Anime Studio Madhouse began streaming the first standalone promotional video for Death Billiards, the studio's entry in this year's Anime Mirai program, on Wednesday. In the anime, two men find themselves playing for their lives in a game of billiards.
Director Yuzuru Tachikawa (episode director for Shigurui, Steins;Gate, Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine) and producer Takuya Tsunoki (Chihayafuru, Kaiji, Casshern Sins) lead the project. The cast includes:
- Tomoaki Maeno as Bartender
- Yūichi Nakamura as Man
- Jun Hazumi as Old Man
- Asami Seto as Woman
Under the Anime Mirai program, the Japan Animation Creators Association (JAniCA) receives money from the Japanese government's Agency for Cultural Affairs, and it distributes most of those funds to studios who will train young animators on-the-job. The other three studios' projects are Studio Trigger's Little Witch Academia, ZEXCS's Aruvu Rezuru - Kikai Jikake no Yōsei-tachi (Aruvu Rezuru - Mechanized Fairies), and Gonzo's Ryo.
The shorts will open in Japanese theaters on Saturday.
