The April issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Newtype magazine is revealing on Sunday the release dates for several spring anime titles.
Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge will premiere Wednesday, April 3 at 12:30 a.m. on Tokyo MX. The story, which is Media Factory and Studio Gokumi's adaptation of Tatsuhiko Hikagi's manga series, revolves around Kiri Haimura, a boy who loves to cut girls' hair. He happens to meet Iwai Mushanokōji, a girl with long, beautiful hair who is known as the "Queen of Hair." Her hair has been cursed to be forever uncuttable, but Kiri happens to have "Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge" — scissors that have the mystical ability to cut her cursed hair. Kiri finds himself protecting Iwai from descendants of murderers wielding "Killing Goods."
Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet (Suisei no Gargantia) will premiere on April 7 at 10:00 p.m. on Tokyo MX. Madoka Magica's Gen Urobuchi supervised the original screenplay, which will be directed by Kazuya Murata (Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos) and feature character designs by Hanaharu Naruko (Shōjo Material). Production I.G., Nitroplus, and Bandai Visual will be involved in production. The story follows a mecha pilot who is accidentally warped into a space-time neither he nor the computer of his mecha can recognize. After waking up from a long-time hibernation, he finds himself trapped on a planet with human residents talking in an unknown form of language, using inferior technologies, and - most shocking to him - naturally breathing the air.
Lastly, Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S, the second season to A Certain Scientific Railgun, will air on April 12 at 12:30 a.m. on Tokyo MX. The cast and staff for the first season will return for the sequel.
