Black Jack TV's 2nd English DVD Set Reaches Crowdfunding Goal

Set successfully funded with only an hour left to spare

Anime Sols reached its crowdfunding goal of US$18,000 for the second North American DVD set release of the Black Jack medical television anime on Tuesday. The set got a boost over the holiday weekend. The site held a Black Friday sale through Sunday, with all pledges automatically worth double towards the goal. The set hit the mark with only minutes left to spare.

The anime adapted the original classic story by manga pioneer Osamu Tezuka, and it ran for 61 episodes in 2004-2006. The story follows a black-market doctor and his assistant Pinoko as they perform dangerous operations around the world. The original manga also spawned another television anime series, several movies, and specials.

Crunchyroll and Viki have streamed the Black Jack television anime in North America and the United Kingdom.

As of press time Hurricane Polymar and Tezuka's 24-hour are also still accepting funding pledges. Dear Brother set 2 and Creamy Mami set 3 were successfully funded over the weekend and are accepting overtime pledges.

Anime Sols reached the goal for the first Black Jack set in July. The site has also successfully three Creamy Mami sets and two DVD box sets of Dear Brother anime television series.
