Police arrested voice actor Illich Guardiola (Penguindrum's Kanba, Hakuōki's Sanosuke, Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere's Muneshige) in Harris County, Texas on Thursday for the alleged sexual assault of a child. According to police, Guardiola traveled to Las Vegas two weeks earlier and married his 16-year-old student in the presence of her mother.
Police stopped Guardiola for a traffic violation on April 14 and noticed the 16-year-old with him in the car. The teenager told police he was giving her a ride home but later admitted to having a sexual relationship with Guardiola.
The 41-year-old was a drama teacher at several Houston acting academies and theaters, including Houston Family Arts Center where the girl was a student. Bob Clark, executive director of the Houston Family Arts Center, stated that the center severed all connections with Guardiola after learning of the arrest.
Guardiola's bail is set at US$50,000. Investigators are asking anyone with information regarding the case to contact the Spring Valley Village Police Department.
North American anime licensing company Sentai Filmworks announced in April that Guardiola will play Keno Inusaka in its English dub of the Hakkenden: Eight Dogs of the East (Hakkenden: Tōhō Hakken Ibun) television anime series. Sentai Filmworks plans to release the series on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on May 20.
