'RS Project' Wins MechaTsuku Contest to Get Mecha Anime

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Every Star had announced 5 finalists in contest on March 1

Smartphone novel production company Every Star announced on March 31 that "RS Project" has won its "Bokutachi no Mitai Mecha Anime o Tsukurou Seisaku Iinkai" ('Let's make the mecha anime we want to see' production committee, or "MechaTsuku" for short) contest. The project will get an anime that will air on Fuji TV.

Every Star streamed a promotional video for the anime along with four other finalists starting on March 1.

RS Project (originally proposed as "F.S. Project" for "Find Storage") takes place in a parallel world that resembles modern Japan, but where alien lifeforms known as "Kikō" (Trick) fell from the sky ten years prior and started attacking humanity. The main characters are a pilot, Mizuru Mido, and her assistant, Fuu Sagami, who use a mecha made out of an enemy's remains. However, battle causes memory loss for the pilot, and they must unravel the mystery as to why.

Roll was in charge of the original planning for the contest entry, and Shūichirō Satō designed the mecha. Every Star is also hosting some of RS Project's submitted mecha designs for the contest.

Every Star unveiled the contest in March 2014. Phase one asked for general outlines of a proposed 60-minute mecha anime. Phase two, held in June 2014, asked for separate entries in character design, mechanical design, and screenplay. Every Star then produced short videos for five finalists, and made those videos live on March 1, 2015. The video with the highest play count by March 31 won the contest. RS Project's video garnered 19,033 views by March 31.

Every Star has not yet revealed more details about when the anime will air.
