Aniplex announced the April 2017 premiere and additional cast members for the television anime of Tsukasa Fushimi's Eromanga Sensei light novel series at the "Dengeki Bunko Aki no Saiten 2016" event on Sunday.
Minami Takahashi (Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma's Megumi Tadokoro) as Elf Yamada, a top-selling novelist with another publisher
Saori Ōnishi (Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend's Eriri Spencer Sawamura) as Muramasa Senjyu, a younger but more experienced novelist with Masamune's publisher
Ibuki Kido (If Her Flag Breaks' Nanami Knight Bladefield) as Megumi Jinno, Sagiri's classmate
Yui Ishikawa (Attack on Titan's Mikasa Ackerman) as Tomoe Takasago, Masamune's classmate
The anime's official teaser website and Twitter account are also launching on Sunday. The website features an illustration by original novel illustrator Hiro Kanzaki. The Twitter account is a joint one between two of Fushimi's stories: Oreimo and Eromanga Sensei, and its icon (pictured right), with super-deformed Kirino (Oreimo) and Sagiri (Eromanga Sensei), is based on art by Kanzaki.
Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Sword Art Online's Kirito) is playing the protagonist Masamune Izumi, and Akane Fujita (Mahō Shōjo Nante Mō Ii Desu Kara's Yuzuka Hanami) is playing Sagiri Izumi in the anime. Fujita is reprising the role from an earlier visual drama that was broadcast on Niconico.
Ryohei Takeshita (Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun chief animation director) and Tatsuya Takahashi (And you thought there is never a girl online?, The [email protected] Cinderella Girls, Pandora in the Crimson Shell: Ghost Urn) are directing and supervising the series scripts, respectively. Hiroyuki Oda (a pseudonym of Hiro Kanzaki) is designing the characters for animation. Shinichiro Kashiwada is serving as the producer of the project, and Aniplex and A-1 Pictures are producing the anime.
The Eromanga Sensei "new sibling romantic comedy" revolves around Masamune Izumi, a light novel author in high school. Masamune's little sister is Sagiri, a shut-in girl who hasn't left her room for an entire year. She even forces her brother to make and bring her meals when she stomps on the floor. Masamune wants his sister to leave her room, because the two of them are each other's only family.
Masamune's novel illustrator, penname "Ero Manga Sensei," draws extremely perverted drawings, and is very reliable. Masamune had never met his illustrator, and figured he was just a disgusting, perverted otaku. However, the truth is revealed that his "Ero Manga Sensei" is his own younger sister. To add to the chaos that erupts between the siblings, a beautiful, female, best-selling shōjo manga creator becomes their rival.
Fushimi launched the light novel series in 2013 after finishing the Oreimo (Ore no Imōto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai) light novel series, which also inspired an anime. As with Oreimo, Hiro Kanzaki draws the illustrations for Eromanga Sensei.
