Sonic the Hedgehog, Thunder Force IV to launch on Switch on September 20

Sega revealed on Thursday that the Out Run, Columns II (Columns II: The Voyage Through Time), Thunder Force AC, and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 games are joining the lineup for the Sega Ages project for the Nintendo Switch.

Thunder Force AC and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will feature an online ranking, Thunder Force AC will also include an easy mode, and Columns II will feature online battles. Out Run will feature background music and other features from the Nintendo 3DS version.

With the project, Sega will release more than 15 of its classic games for the Switch. M2 is developing the games.

Previously announced games in the project include Phantasy Star, Sonic the Hedgehog, Thunder Force IV (Lightning Force: Quest for the Darkstar), Gain Ground, Alex Kidd in Miracle World, and Space Harrier.

Sega had originally planned to release the first two games, Sonic the Hedgehog and Thunder Force IV, in August, but delayed the releases to September 20 to improve the games' quality. Phantasy Star was slated to launch this month, but now has no set release period.

The titles will have a simultaneous development in Japan, North America, and Europe.
