Vinland Saga Anime's Latest Promo Video Previews milet's New Ending Song

Episode 10 delayed until next week due to typhoon coverage

The official website for the television anime of Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga manga began streaming the new promotional video for the anime's second half on Sunday. The video previews "Drown," the anime's new opening theme song by singer milet.

The planned Sunday airing of the show's 10th episode was pre-empted due to breaking news coverage of Typhoon Faxai (also known as Typhoon No. 15 in Japan), which is impacting Tokyo and surrounding areas. The episode will instead air in the show's regular time slot next week.

The site previously streamed another promotional video last week previewing rock band MAN WITH A MISSION's new opening song "Dark Crow."

Kodansha Comics began publishing the manga series in North America in 2013, and it describes the story:

Thorfinn is son to one of the Vikings' greatest warriors, but when his father is killed in battle by the mercenary leader Askeladd, he swears to have his revenge. Thorfinn joins Askeladd's band in order to challenge him to a duel, and ends up caught in the middle of a war for the crown of England. From the creator of the classic Planetes manga comes this epic, highly-anticipated tale.

The anime premiered with the first three episodes on July 7 at 24:10 (effectively, July 8 at 12:10 a.m.) on the NHK General channel. The anime also streams exclusively on Amazon Prime Video both in Japan and overseas, with the first episode streaming in Japan early on July 6 at 24:00 (July 7 at 12:00 a.m.).

Shūhei Yabuta (Inuyashiki Last Hero director, Attack on Titan 3D director) is directing the anime at Wit Studio (Attack on Titan, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, The Ancient Magus' Bride). Hiroshi Seko (Banana Fish, Ajin: Demi-Human) is supervising the series scripts and writing them with Kenta Ihara (Saga of Tanya the Evil). Takahiko Abiru (Hunter × Hunter animation director) is designing the characters. Bamboo is in charge of the art, and MAD BOX is in charge of special effects. Yutaka Yamada (Tokyo Ghoul, Donten ni Warau Gaiden: Ketsubetsu, Yamainu no Chikai) is composing the music. Survive Said the Prophet performs the anime's first opening theme song "MUKANJYO," and Aimer performs the first ending theme song "Torches."

Yukimura launched the manga series in Japan in 2005.
