Save Data from the Demo will Transfer Over to the Full Game Upon Release

BURLINGAME, Calif. – March 5, 2026 – Today, KOEI TECMO America and developer Team NINJA warn fans to brace for terror as they embark on the horrifying adventure of FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE in a brand-new demo, now available on PlayStation®5, Nintendo Switch™ 2, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC via Steam®. After completing the demo, players will be able to transfer their save data to the full game when it launches on March 12, 2026.

In the FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE demo, players follow twin sisters Mio and Mayu Amakura as they wander into an abandoned village infested with vengeful spirits. This complete remake of the second title in the FATAL FRAME franchise introduces new gameplay elements, along with enhanced graphics and immersive sound, to scare even the most seasoned horror game fans. The series' signature system – repelling wraiths by photographing them with the Camera Obscura – returns in this title, allowing for a more dynamic use of the Camera Obscura in both exploration and combat. A new gameplay feature has also been introduced: the ability to hold hands with Mayu. This allows players to feel the true depth of the sisters' bond throughout the story.

In addition to the demo, fans can now pre-order the Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes the base game and the Digital Soundtrack and Digital Art Book, as well as the Digital Deluxe Bonus Set featuring the Deluxe Charm and costumes for Mio and Mayu*. A Digital Deluxe Upgrade is also available separately. Players who purchase a physical or digital version of the game before March 25, 2026, will receive the following early purchase bonuses: Wraith Charm, Peony Hair Ornament (Red)/Peony Hair Ornament (Blue), and Kimono (Red)/Kimono (Black).

Players who digitally pre-order the game before March 12, 2026, will receive the following: Spirit Charm, Cat Ears (White)/Cat Ears (Black), as well as the costumes Crimson Butterfly - Mio (Original)/Crimson Butterfly - Mayu (Original), inspired by outfits from the original game.

FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE is scheduled to release on March 12, 2026, on PlayStation®5, Nintendo Switch™ 2, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC via Steam®. The game features Japanese and English voiceovers, with text available in Japanese, English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.
