TV Anime Kujima Utaeba Ie Hororo Theme Songs Announced
OP theme “Komorebizaka” by Galileo Galilei and ED theme “Hororo Shoyo” by Manami Kakudō! Musical artists and the author Akira Konno have shared their comments!
Kujima Utaeba Ie Hororo was first serialized in Shogakukan's monthly shonen manga magazine, Gessan. The highly-rated series that has won the U-NEXT award for the 2022 Next Manga Awards, ranked first by multiple bookstores for manga recommended by staff in 2023, and been received enthusiastically by professional buyers has been adapted into an anime that will begin airing in April 2026. The story is a homely comedy that centers around an encounter between first-year middle school student Arata Kouda and Kujima, a strange creature that crossed over to Japan from Russia, that triggers a gradual change in his household.
The opening theme song to this highly anticipated anime will be done by none other than Galileo Galilei! The rock band is well known by anime fans thanks to its ties to various anime and their hit theme songs for series' such as Ano Hana: The Flower We Saw and season two of Ao no Orchestra. Their newest single “Komorebizaka” was born from a heartfelt request by Akira Konna, the author of Kujima Utaeba Ie Hororo, and was written specifically to serve as the opening theme song for the new anime.
The band's signature transparent melodies and lyrics by their frontman Yuuki Ozaki craft a beautiful and emotional song born from mutual respect between artists, acting like a mirror into the heartwarming world of Kujima. This marks their second consecutive collaboration with an anime, following their single “Amadeus” which was released last October.
In addition, the ending theme song will be performed by percussionist and composer Manami Kakudō, who will be handling the composition of the anime soundtrack and theme song for the first time. Previously, she's performed as a percussionist for various artists such as cero, Haruomi Hosono, Tomoyo Harada, and Shun Ishiwaka Songbook Project. She's been actively releasing music, including her major debut album oar in 2020 and her second album Contact in 2024. Her cover of Maki Asakawa's “Watashi no Kinyoubi”, featured on oar, gained significant attention on Spotify. In 2026, she began expanding her activities into live performances and music video production. She's referred to as a “genius” among her peers for her rare sensibilities and one-of-a-kind methods.
The lyrics, composition, arrangement and vocals for the ending theme song “Hororo Shoyo” (“shoyo” means to stroll or take a walk) was created entirely by Manami Kakudō herself. The edgy song was created with the friendship between Kujima and Arata in mind. It's a heartwarming track with a simple, child-like melody that gradually infuses modern and Latin American musical elements. Repeated listens offer a strange experience that allows the track to seep into your ears and savor her extraordinary talent.
The opening theme song and ending theme song will begin pre-streaming Friday, April 10 at midnight (JST).

The artists have shared their comments!
Along with this press release, the author Akira Konno also gave a special comment regarding the new theme songs.
Galileo Galilei (“Komorebizaka” OP theme)
Hello, I'm Yuuki Ozaki from Galileo Galilei. We're performing the opening theme song for TV anime Kujima Utaeba Ie Hororo. When I read the original work ahead of producing the track, it brought back feelings from when I was in my teens. Like when I would watch the birds flying in the sky while thinking about things at that age. This work captured the feeling of being small and having a separate inner world that overlaps with the landscape in a way that feels like “art.” Rather than put it into words, I created a track by embracing Kujima and the story's atmosphere as my own melancholy, while always keeping characters in mind. I think that's why the track goes so well with the story. I was incredibly happy to hear that the author Konno-sensei listened to my music before. This is a special collaboration in which you can feel the connection between our music and the author's work.
Manami Kakudō (“Hororo Shoyo” ED theme)
Hello, I'm Manami Kakudō and I'm performing the ending theme song for TV anime Kujima Utaeba Ie Hororo. My hope is that different landscapes unfold at the entrance and exit through the story and the music. I made this song hoping that it will become that device.
Akira Konno (author of Kujima Utaeba Ie Hororo)
About “Komorebizaka”:
Before discussions about an anime adaptation began, I often thought about how Galileo Galilei would make a great fit for this series while I was drawing Kujima. “Komorebizaka” is a song that's chill but warm, and allows you to feel the vastness of the sky while sitting on the ground. I'm grateful that this song expands the world of Kujima even more!
About “Hororo Shoyou”:
It feels like watching Arata and Hororo from a distance as they walk. Kakudo-san's voice is wonderful, soothing, and the instrumentals sound like birds chirping or trees rustling. It's a song that leaves a gentle afterglow. I want to listen to it while taking a walk.
